Shoot the moon!
This is second time shooting the moon. The first time I was using an IPhone X with the Skyline dob. This time I captured the moon with my astrophotography gear. I wasn’t certain what kind of results I would get using the Meade and the ASI294MC Pro. They seemed more fitting for deep space objects. But you got to try, right? You just got to find the right settings.
I used the AstronomikProPlanet 642 BP IR-Pass Filter for the first time as well. It really seemed to help tone down the brightness of the moon. Without it I think the image would have just been a bright white ball. I also used an exposure of .001s.
Overall, I love the details of the moon’s surface I was able to capture. It’s pretty amazing to see the craters and dunes and such. A friend and I were saying how it looks like the moon saw some battles go down on the surface.
